The Canadian Limousin Association held their 52nd Annual General Meeting on Thursday, July 22, 2021. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we were not about to meet in person and the meeting was held virtually. We thank all members that were in attendance. A productive discussion was had regarding member retention as well as the breeds involvement in the commercial beef industry. Sandy Russell gave a presentation on the Canadian Beef Improvement Network and the CLA made a formal financial commitment to the project.
Outgoing board members Mike Geddes, Matthew Heleniak and Erin Kishkan were thanked by President, Amanda Matthews for their combined years of service to the association and their dedication to the Limousin breed. Outgoing President, Amanda Matthews was thanked by General Manager, Laura Ecklund for leading the association through two challenging years with a pandemic and numerous changes within the association.
The board of directors is pleased to welcome Tyler Stewart and Chad Homer to the board this year. The new executive was elected following the meeting and we would like to congratulate incoming President Wayne Burgess. Wayne has a long standing history and in our breed and will be a strong and dedicated leader for the year to come.
The board of directors meets regularly on the last Tuesday of each month and welcome agenda items to be brought forward from the membership. The board would like to invite members to become involved in the association through the 2021/2022 Committees. Please reach out to a board member or the CLA for involvement on a committee.
