Beef Improvement Federation Annual Conference Coming to Calgary Next Summer
 June 29 to July 3rd, 2008

Over 68 years ago, the true pioneers of the performance beef cattle movement began the research which led to the use of objective measurements for evaluating beef cattle. Selection based on objective measures has withstood the test of time and continues to undergo scrutiny by researchers, organizations and the ultimate judge, beef cattle producers. As a means to standardize programs and methodology and to create greater awareness, acceptance and useage of beef cattle performance concepts, the Beef Improvement Federation was formed. The organization's three leaf clover logo would come to represent Industry, Extension and Research and to early pioneers of BIF, represented then, in the twilight of the 20th century.

NOTICE to CLA members Please note the following re: PROTO TESTING POLICY AND FEE UPDATE

Effective April 1, 2007, CLA members now have two options to have PROTO testing done at Bova-Can Laboratories. The two options are as follows:
1. Having samples processed on one of four pre-arranged dates at the regular fee of $55 + GST. The remaining three pre-arranged dates for 2007 are: April 30th; September 30th and December 31st
2. Having samples immediately processed for a fee of $250 + GST.

Making the above scheduling arrangements allows the Association to use the lab resources efficiently while also providing members the option of having a ‘rush’ sample done if required immediately. If you have any questions about this new policy please feel free to contact the office at (403) 253-7309 or 1-866-886-1605 (toll-free).
