2010-2011 Board of Directors - Monday, August 02, 2010


The Canadian Limousin Association held its 41st annual general meeting in Lloydminster, SK/AB on Monday, August 2, 2010. Mary Hertz from Duchess, Alberta made Limousin history by becoming the first ever CLA lady president. Bill Campbell from Minto, Manitoba is the new vice-president while Darby Cochrane from Alexander, Manitoba remains treasurer.

Also on the board: Mike Geddes from Clarksburg, Ontario (past president), Stan Skeels from Rimbey, Alberta, Rob Swaan from Quesnel, British Columbia, Brian Lee from Janetville, Ontario and newly appointed directors Lynn Combest from Erskine, Alberta and Dale Turner from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Limousin cattle and Hertz Family sweep the Supreme Beef Categories at Summer Synergy - Saturday, July 17, 2010
The International Youth Livestock Show has traditionally been an integral part of the Calgary Stampede, with competition taking place over the final four days of The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. In 2010, however, the annual competition headed off in a fresh and exciting new direction, becoming a collaborative effort between the Stampede and the Olds Agricultural Society called Summer Synergy 2010. A much larger, intense, and integrated competition, the four-day Summer Synergy 2010, which wrapped up Friday, July 16, drew a total of 341 competitors from across Western Canada.

A new component of the Summer Synergy partnership was the introduction of the International Youth Livestock Supreme Championship, integrated into the Stampede’s UFA Steer Classic on Saturday, July 17.The best of the best was crowned under the Stampede’s Big Top.

Supreme Purebred Beef Champion, a Limousin cow, was shown by Brandon Hertz of Duchess, AB  (IVY'S PLD SWEET TOUCH 4S)

 

 

Supreme Commercial Beef Champion was exhibited by Tyson Hertz of Duchess, Alberta. The black cow is a percentage Limousin female (EXLR TITALIST 033U).

Limousin pair wins overall championship at the Alberta Provincial Show - Wednesday, July 14, 2010

 

Congratulations to Cameron Olson on winning the top honours at the 2010 Alberta 4-H Beef Heifer  Show. Cameron’s 3 yr old Limousin cow Ivy’s Temptation 50T was selected best beef female of all breeds.
